IN THE MIDDLE OF SAHARA DESERT

Dear Friends
Please continue to bear with me and dont delete my name from your follower's list. Here the internet is too poor and I can hardly open the blog page, it just hangs out , can you imagine the speed is not even 5 kbps ...and rarely 10 and signal loss, very 2 minutes!!!!
I will be here for some more time, just picked up a short assignment to earn bit of pocket money. Place is 1600 Km away from the capital, Algiers. I stay in a camp in a   10X10 portable cabin and have an attached toilet, luckily. Of course it has a small fridge minus beer, TV etc. ( I wished I had a kitchen too.) There are about 100 Chinese people and Algerians too. I work for the Chinese Oil giant. I am the only Indian.  I am enjoying authentic Chinese food and also Algerian food. Both the Chefs  have promised me to teach dishes..It will be interesting .They dont understand English and I dont understand Arabic, French or Chinese. It will be great fun learning dishes approximately.
There is nothing to see here. Foreigners are not allowed to move out without police escort. As such it is quite safe, I mean better than Delhi or Noida. Moreover there is nothing much to see ...sand and more sand dunes and stones , rubble every where.
It is getting cold and will go sub zero in the night in Dec Jan.... (I wont be here during Sahara summer)
Hope to catch up when I am back home in January and whenever I get connection, I shall read your postings for sure.
Have a nice weekend , best wishes from InAmenas,

How can you even think that we will be deleting your name from the Bloggers friends list Ushnishda??
I am eagerly awaiting your return, to read your adventures in the desert...
Do keep posting when possible.
Have a wonderful, safe stay :)

Hi Ushnish, How can we delete your name from the list ??????
Was happy to see your post. few months will pass in a jiffy and u'll be completing this assignment successfully. We will get to see some new recipes too.
These days I am also unable to post any recipes because I am on the move. Right now I am in India attending the weddings of my neice and nephew in Jaipur. Then got to go back to Brazil and settling down in a new home again may take some time.

Wow. Sounds amazing! I'd pay to be in that prison cell, though it must be annoying not being able to go around without police escorts. Please show us pictures of the desert in your next post!

Was waiting for updates from you. Initially I felt jealous of you for being amidst the desert but on a long run, it might get a little annoying to be grounded in a place and see sand and stones all the time.

Will wait for your return and the new Chinese and Algerian recipes.

congratulations Ushnishda....you have not just seen the biggest desert in the world but also had the chance to live thr for a while, isnt it amazing how the people there can find their ways through the desert without a GPS, its very fascinating to me, imagine years ago...

Ushnishda! How are u? I have meaning to write this comment since last two days but my new born baby keeps me in my toes.

Well, the cabins do look boring, but at least you guys have a bit of greenery with some pots in the dessert.

Hoping to read more from you soon and u will never be forgotton.
